Spiritual Leaders Academy

“[C]lergy have a characteristic developmental path. It is not inevitable, and it does not follow a single script. Yet broadly speaking, clergy lurch toward maturity driven by a deep connection with others.” This “connection with others” is often lacking among clergy, and “pastors and their spouses experienced significantly more loneliness and diminished marital adjustment compared to non-pastoral husbands and wives.”
Jim Bleiberg, “A Pathway to Wisdom: Three Stages in the Development of Clergy,” Congregations (Jan/Feb 2002): 5., Wells: 2.

The Spiritual Leaders Academy can be completed for CEU credit.

Asbury Seminary's Pastoral Seasons as Life and Ministry (Psalm) is an initiative to promote and sustain pastoral excellence. Psalm addresses seminarians' and pastoral leaders' needs to be connected to networks of spiritual friends, as well as to be replenished and sustained by continuing engagement with classic practices of the Christian Life. I understand the purpose of the Spiritual Leaders Academy is to equip me as a pastoral leader and spiritual guide of my congregation.

Participants enrolling in the Spiritual Leaders Academy will be expected to attend all sessions within the given cohort. The two Wilmore cohorts will include six sessions, and the one Orlando cohort will include four sessions. Please note that the Orlando cohort will cover the same course material as the Wilmore cohorts but will have longer summer sessions.

I understand Spiritual Leaders Academy is based upon six or four sessions, and I commit to attending all of the sessions within the cohort I choose (six for the Wilmore cohorts or four for the Orlando cohort).
