Welcome to the new web site for the PSALM project. PSALM is made possible by the generosity of the Lilly Endowment’s Sustaining Pastoral Excellence grant to Asbury Theological Seminary. PSALM explores the natural rhythms of a pastor’s vocation as occasions for God’s grace and formation – “Pastoral Seasons as Life and Ministry.”
From the initial stirrings of God’s call to vocational ministry to the ultimate fulfillment of that call at death, God’s sustaining presence shapes us. We seek to incarnate the One who calls as we live and serve by grace. Every relationship creates space for God to be made known. Every exchange is hosted by the Spirit.
Living in God’s presence, in Wesleyan terms, entails certain “means of grace” that welcome God’s love and mercy into our consciousness. These practices, like Scripture, prayer and acts of kindness, position us for God’s best. The following web pages invite us into experiences of the means of grace as a community. You will find groups committed to being formed by grace. You will also discover ongoing conversations about God’s activity in and through faithful servants of Christ. Explore at will. Join the conversations. Be part of the journey of formation in God’s luxurious and sufficient grace!
